Covering everything between 35mm and 150mm
The Fast All-Round Zoom
The Rokinon AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 E has a maximum aperture of F2 at its widest and F2.8 at the telephoto end, which covers the five main focal lengths (35/50/85/135/150). With its wide zoom range, the lens is designed as a fast all-rounder that covers a broad range of shooting scenarios, from portraits to travel. The premium design and performance of 2nd Generation lenses have been applied to the lens, and it also supports the key features of recent Sony mirrorless bodies, including Hybrid AF, Eye AF, Direct Manual Focus (DMF), and the AF assist function.
Short Minimum Focal Distance 0.33m (1.08ft)
The AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 delivers superior close-up shooting performance for an all-rounder zoom. At the 35mm wide-angle end, the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) is 0.33mm. Combined with the lens's fast apertures, it produces a unique perspective close to the subject while presenting a beautifully blurred background. Users can also take dynamic close-up shots at the 150mm telephoto end with a MOD of 0.85m. It makes taking portraits with exaggerated features easier, food on tables, etc.
Outstanding Resolution from Corner to Corner
Thanks to the latest optical design of 21 elements in 18 groups and featuring an optimal combination of 2 ASP, 1 HB, 3 HR and 6 ED elements the lens presents superior optical performance throughout the entire zoom range. When combined with Sony’s full-frame image sensor, the AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 E delivers high image quality to the edges of the frame with plenty of contrast.
Impressive Bokeh with a Bright F2-F2.8 Aperture
The large aperture of the AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 E presents an attractive background blur to the image's out-of-focus areas. It effectively separates the subject from the background, using a shallow depth of field to capture a unique image in which the background is compressed. The lens employs 9 diaphragm blades, creating a smooth and attractive bokeh.
Fast and Accurate AF Performance
The lens’ Linear Stepping Motor (STM) is fast and highly responsive to photographers and videographers. It delivers excellent focus tracking and smooth transitions, from the Minimum Object Distance (MOD) to infinity. Its fast maximum aperture also helps you control camera movement by allowing a higher shutter speed or reducing noise by choosing a low ISO. The system is compatible with Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF, and the Eye AF camera functions as in-camera lens corrections for shading, chromatic aberration, and distortion.
Optimized Features for Video Shooting
Enhanced Functionality with Custom Switch & Button
The two round buttons made of soft rubber have a focus save function which can store 2 points of focus. In addition, three custom mode switches on the lens can be pre-programmed via the optional Lens Station, allowing you to set up the mode to suit your preference.
Optimized Features for Video Shooting
1) Dolly Zoom Shot: The Dolly Zoom is a powerful in-camera cinematic technique. A professional dolly can be expensive and challenging to operate, but this lens allows you to take the dolly shot easily.
2) Cinematic Video AF: When shooting video, the AF speed is more carefully adjusted than photo shooting, resulting in lower wobbling and highly stable movie shooting.
3) Linear MF Focus Control: Provides convenience to video shooters by matching the torque of the focus ring as closely as possible to that of a manual focus lens when shooting video in manual mode.
4) Digital Par-Focal: Digital Par-focal is specialized for video shooting as it can maintain focus on the subject when zooming in or out. Since this function is usually mounted in expensive cine zoom lenses, it provides a more special experience and results to customers who use this zoom lens.
Custom Switch
MODE 1 | MODE 2 | MODE 3 | |
---|---|---|---|
AF Mode | AF | Aperture Adjustment | - |
MF Mode | MF | Linear MF | Dolly Shot |
*The focusing ring operates as the aperture adjustment and Linear MF functions in MODE 2
*The mode can be customized via the optional Lens Station In Linear MF mode, focus movement is constant regardless of the speed at which the focus ring is turned through its 300° rotation. When using a follow focus, this allows a more precise control.
Focus Hold Button

How to use the focus hold button
When you press and hold down the "focus hold button" for 3 seconds, the screen blinks and informs you of the saving status. The function allows the users to save focus at any desired position and naturally change focus between two subjects. When you press the button briefly after saving, the focus moves to a saved position.
Zoom Lock Switch
A zoom lock switch helps users keep the lens set at its shortest 35mm position, making it more convenient and safe to carry.
Easily Become a Professional Videographer
Dolly Shot
The MODE 3 in MF position, you can easily take "Dolly Shot", a special effect you see in movies.A professional dolly can be expensive and challenging to operate because you have to operate the focus ring and zoom ring simultaneously while changing the distance to the subject. In "Dolly Shot Mode", the focus ring and zoom ring are linked in the system so that users take dolly shot simply to operate the zoom ring.
Digital Par-Focal
After focusing on the subject in MF mode, the focus doesn’t require adjusting again, even when zoomed in or out. This allows filmmakers to reduce shooting time and allow accurate and stable shooting. What is Dolly shot?
A dolly shot, also referred to as a tracking shot or trucking shot, is a camera movement technique used by cinematographers to track and follow a subject in motion. To achieve this, the camera is mounted on a device called a "dolly," which facilitates smooth tracking movement. The dolly can move in front of, behind, or alongside the subject, which can be a person, a location, a product, or any other object of focus in the frame. Through this, you can control the emotional distance between the subject and the viewer by highlighting the audiovisual and dramatic effects.
How to take a Dolly Shot simply by handheld
Tip. If the moving distance is long, the camera may shake, so please shoot at a focal length between 35 and 100mm.
- Stand at a distance of about 1.5 to 2 meters away from the subject.
- Set the custom switch to MF and Mode 3 and adjust the focal length to about 100mm.
- After focusing on the subject, set the aperture to F8~16.
- Slowly turn the zoom ring to the left (towards the wide-angle end) while using your upper body and arms to move the camera toward your subject.
- Dolly Shot complete
※ When shooting from a farther distance from the subject, use a cart or gimbal for more stable shooting.
Premium and solid design
Premium Design and Usability
Since introducing the 2nd Generation lenses, Rokinon has introduced the 'Hidden red ring' design that has become part of the brand’s design identity. The new design improves the look and usability of the lens, reflecting customer feedback, with enhanced tactile controls for focusing and precise focal length adjustment. A lock switch on the body helps users keep the lens set at its shortest 35mm position and is useful for protection during travel.
Weather-sealed Design
Considering the users’ shooting environment, the lens is designed to be completely weather-sealed at the mount and throughout the body. Weather sealing is adopted in 11 areas to prevent damage or contamination from dust, light rain, and snow.
