Rokinon Unveils its New 85mm F1.4 E II
2nd Generation AF Prime Lens for Sony Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras

2nd Generation of the AF 85mm F1.4 E

Rokinon is introducing second-generation AF lenses with upgraded performance based on the technology it has accumulated over the years. Starting with the first renewal product, the AF 50mm F1.4 E II, the AF 35mm F1.4 E II, and this time the AF 85mm F1.4 E II second-generation lens will be announced. The AF 85mm F1.4 E II is the second edition of the AF 85mm F1.4 E, and it is one of the lenses that has been loved by many people since Rokinon released its first Autofocus lens in 2016.

AF 85mm F1.4 E II Key Features
Outstanding Center Resolution

The 4 HR (High Refractive) and 1 ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass elements of this new AF 85mm F1.4 E II provide a stunning contrast and resolution, and its center resolution is superior to other comparable expensive telephoto lenses. Rokinon's advanced coating technology not only maintains excellent image sharpness even in poor lighting conditions but also the AF 85mm F1.4 E II provides a clearer image with an improved Color Contribution Index (CCI).

Faster, Precise, Quiet Auto Focus Performance

Rokinon’s Linear Stepping Motor (STM) provides the high-thrust efficiency needed for fast, precise, quiet AF and tracking, thus maximizing the advantages of Sony E-Mount cameras. Compared to the previous AF 85mm F1.4 E, this new AF 85mm F1.4 E II is optimized for not only photo shooting, but also video shooting by minimizing vibration and noise. Tracking the subject accurately and quickly, the AF also operates quietly and smoothly when shooting video. Rokinon's Linear STM satisfies both photographers and videographers with quieter and more accurate control of the focusing lens groups.

Delivers Extremely Clean & Beautiful Bokeh
The AF 85mm F1.4 E II is the only E mount lens that does not feature even a single aspherical glass. If an aspherical glass is used to improve its optical performance, there should be onion rings in the bokeh, which is a negative factor in the bokeh evaluation. Since the AF 85mm F1.4 E II does not feature any aspherical glass in its elements, it has clear and beautiful bokeh!

Enhanced Operability and Reliability

Important features of the AF 85mm F1.4 E II include: Customizable 1) Focus hold button & 2) Custom switch. Overall, this is a lens that meets professional requirements for control and reliability, for both stills and videos.

1) Focus Hold Button
Pressing this button on the lens will keep the lens locked to that focusing distance. You can assign functions such as Eye AF in settings on the camera body.
2) Custom Switch
There is a custom switch, which can be set to allow adjustment of the aperture silently, by rotating the focus ring. Using the optional Lens Station, you can set up the mode to suit your own preference*.
(*More functions will be added through firmware updates in the future)

Modern Design & Weather-Sealing

The AF 85mm F1.4 E II has been developed and enhanced, taking into consideration not only the design but also the user's shooting environment. It features a rubberized micro-patterned focus ring, stylish silver ring, hidden red ring, and matte finish which feels great to operate and the weather-sealing (in 7 areas) protects the lens from light rain, snow and dust.

Short Minimum Focal Distance 0.85m (2.79ft)

Minimum focal distance is just 85cm (2.79ft), making the lens perfect for flattering portraits, headshots, and full-body images. It is possible to produce unique perspective close to the subject and makes it easier to take portraits with exaggerated features, food on tables, etc.
